Rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation

We decided to get away. It was a last minute thing that turned into a God blessed thing. We LOVE Bend, OR and decided Thursday to go. We packed Thursday night and drove down on Friday. We got in contact with a fellow pastor from there who found us a house to stay in.....for FREE!!! Little did we know (as this was so very last minute) but, there was a big race/event going on this very weekend and the hotels were all booked. We wouldn't have been able to find anything in town, but God allowed us to stay close to all the action, all we had to pay for was food and fun! What a huge blessing! We enjoyed warm sunshine, parks, beautiful scenery, and even a thunderstorm. It was a time of rest, a time of relaxing, and a time of rejuvenation.
We enjoyed fellowship and great preaching on Sunday, followed by an afternoon at a park. The children fed goslings and even did some "sword" fighting with some interesting characters! There was entertainment and fun equipment to play on. All in all, we had a fantastic time!

A day at the Park

What a glorious day! We enjoyed a day at the park with our family yesterday. The sun was beautiful, the crowd was friendly, memories were made.

A Vision..An Opportunity

Wow! In a week and a half, my husband and second oldest daughter will be headed to Uganda, Africa! Seven years ago, my husband went to Papua New Guinea for his first missions trip. Since then, he has been back to PNG, and has been to India twice, as well as the Philippines. After his first trip, we decided what a blessing it would be to take each of our children to a third world country after their 13th birthday. What a great opportunity to open our children's eyes to what the majority of our world lives like, and to take time to minister to their needs both physical and spiritual. This is also a wonderful time for dad and child to have bonding time at an age when they are so vulnerable and so close to adulthood. It thrills my soul to see how the Lord has allowed this for my oldest daughter and now for my second. Each of my children are looking forward to their time with dad on the mission field.
Of course there is a risk involved, but I feel that God gave this vision to my husband and I stand behind this decision whole heartedly! What an honor it would be if the Lord would choose to use my children as missionaries one day! Please pray for their safety as well as opportunities for them to minister. Pray that souls will be saved.

"Happy" Mothers' Day?

How strange that Mother's day, May 9, of all days marks the 50th anniversary of the birth control pill. For some, this means freedom.  Freedom from...becoming a mother. But, did you know that just because you take "the pill", doesn't mean you haven't become a mother? In fact, the pill, which is so widely accepted even in Christianity, does not always prevent ovulation necessary for conception. What does this mean? It means that when ovulation still occurs, conception can still occur. What happens after this? Well, the progestin in the pill causes the lining of the uterus to be thinned and shriveled making a hostile environment for the baby to implant.  So, what then happens to this baby?  It dies.  Abortion takes place. Even those who dispise abortion, may be unknowingly allowing this horrific event in their own lives. But this must be okay because we are unaware, right? Wrong!! A life is still a life, and it is precious. Psalm 127:3 says, "Lo, Children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward." I pray that many would become aware of what the pill does to precious lives. Not to mention the attitude that says, No! I don't want a baby, at least not right now! Why wouldn't we embrace the reward  of children if God wants to bless us with them? Yes, I said bless. Each child is a blessing from God. May we rejoice with each life brought to us by a Holy God!  Happy Mothers' Day!!
