I spoke with Dr. Irwin today about all of the information so many of you shared. He clarified the fact that, yes, indeed liver problems can arise from use of Gleevec. But, he said that most of those cases are patients that are taking it for another problem that has to do with the stomach. Although there can be very rare reactions in CML patients. He definitely said it's still a possibility, but that it is unlikely as her liver functions had been fine while on the Gleevec (and she has been off of it for over two weeks now). If it is a drug related problem, it would be the Tasigna. That being said, he is looking into several viruses that may be causing this issue. We had more labs done today as well as an extensive ultra sound examining her liver and kidneys. These were done this evening and so we do not have any answers as of yet. We expect to be seeing a liver specialist early in the week, and hope to get some answers tomorrow at the earliest. Thank you all for your love and support in all of this. We greatly appreciate all of the prayers going up on our behalf! We are fully trusting in the Sovereign hand of God!
That is good information. Thank you for sharing. You are in our continued prayers. Love you my friend!!!

ReplyDeleteIsaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee." "Stayed upon Jehovah our hearts are truly blessed. Finding as he promised perfect peace and rest." "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. ""It is because of the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, they are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness." "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord." I know that you are experiencing the amazing grace of God, which is a great privilege. God is using Anna to help us all appreciate more the true redemption story and He is bringing us together as one united body as we come behind you in prayer and trust in our all sufficient mighty God.

DeleteThis all reminds me of an old song's chorus. It went: "I sing through the rain and the sunshine, I'll praise Him whatever befall, I sing for I cannot be silent, my Father planned it all."
ReplyDeleteYou're in our prayers.
Still close to my heart... still in my prayers. Hugs, Grace
