The Big Day +80!!!!

Today is the big day! It's day +80. Anna had seven appointments yesterday and today had her bone marrow aspirate. This is where they take a sample of her bone marrow as well as a skin biopsy. We will find out in the days to come if there is any remaining cancer cells. Tomorrow she will have three appointments and then two more on Thursday. On the 19th, we will have the post day 80 conference with the green team to discuss the findings from this week as well as having her Hickman line removed.  We then have a "departure clinic" scheduled for the 22. As it stands, it looks as if she will be "released" from SCCA care on the 24th. Please pray all goes well and that all tests come back clear! I was very excited this morning at Anna's blood sugar numbers! When needing to fast for procedures, she is not to take the long acting dose of insulin at night and her number was 109!! The target number is 80-120. This gives me hope that her blood sugar is stabilizing with the prednisone taper.

  8. We enjoyed visiting with you and Anna yesterday; thanks for taking the time with us. We considered it a personal sacrifice that Anna had to wait even longer for her treat that was waiting in the car for her! What a sweet girl!

We are continuing to pray for you all, and hope you are released to go back to Bremerton soon. With the Lord, His timing is perfect, and we can rest in that knowledge.

    Love,
    Suemes :-)

  9. Yay Anna! It's coming so soon, yet it's been so long! Praise the Lord for all that He has brought you through. As you know, God is so good! Still praying for you here at the Smith house. Victoria says she can't wait until you move out of your "summer" house and back to your "real" house. Hugs from all 10 of us!

  10. So glad to hear that she will be able to come home soon. We keep wanting to come see you all but there it seems like every time we'll have a chance one of the boys gets sick. On a lighter note, it's been wonderful to see our 2 (now 3) and 4 year old want to pray for her and Daniel every day.

  13. Waiting for test results...how long that wait can seem!

I have been reading the book To Fly Again by Gracia Burnham. She was a missionary who, along with her husband, was held hostage for a year by Muslims in the Philippines. Her husband was killed as the Philippine army fought to release them. I was thinking of your dear family as I read, "In the battles of life, when we face overwhelming threats to life and limb, it is always good to praise the Lord. It states a higher reality than what we see with our natural eyes. It affirms our place in the hands of a loving and strong heavenly Father, who will never stop caring about our welfare. He is, indeed, worthy of every accolade we can offer, whether circumstances seem to agree or not."

So as we all await the test results, we praise God that you are in His loving hands.
