Anna Update

Sorry, dear folks, for the delay in posting. One of my little children thought my computer needed more "Memory" and therefore put a "Memory" game card in the disk drive! I had to laugh when the computer was brought back home with the game piece taped to the front of the screen! Oh well, the computer is back and working well once again!

Now for the much needed Anna update......

Cool hat, Anna!
Anna's white blood cell count is down even further! Also, her red count as well as her platelets, which had lowered with the Gleevec, are up and closer to normal. Due to the extreme pain that Anna is in, the doctor is switching her cancer meds from Gleevec to something else. This will start next week. We want Anna to have a better quality of life during the wait period. If her cancer cells increase, we will immediately put her back on the Gleevec and she will have to live with the pain. Please pray that the change in meds will work well!!! We still have had no word on which brother is the closest match or the date they are looking at for transplant. We would like the date soon so we can look into housing over there. Thank you all for your love, support, and especially the prayers!

I was sorting through some papers and came across this year's ladies' retreat brochure. The theme for the retreat was, "His Strength is Perfect". Little did we know what would be taking place just months later, and that Anna's body had already started making cancer cells. Look at the color of the flower and the words "is perfect"..... Do you think that just MAYBE God knew what He was doing?

  4. Waiting, waiting, waiting....seems like you have to do so much of that as you wait for news, decisions, & instructions. But, it's all in God's timing....and He knows what's best for Anna, and for the rest of the family too. Have you looked into, and put your name in (if there is a waiting list), for the home that's there for families of the kids being treated? I believe only one parent will be able to stay with her at the treatment center, and I'm not sure what the other house will hold, but my boss utilized that & it worked for them. You should be able to contact a social worker (or someone that fills that area of business) to find exactly what your options are. I'm sorry Anna is still having so much pain associated with her meds. We are praying for her (& you all!) daily. She's a lovely young lady, and 'God knows the plans He has for her'. 6. I really wanted to get Anna that hat because it looked better than the pink one but lately I've been sick of the color orange. LOL That brochure is awesome! I really wish I could've gone to the retreat.

  7. Praying for you all, and especially Anna. It's times like these where we recognize how small and powerless we are, and how we so need a big God. Praise God for being just that.

    1. Anna, you're so beautiful & so precious! Waiting is truly hard, I don't like being in suspense. But like you said, God's timing is precision compared to ours. Always know you are on my mind and in my prayers each day (and thousands of others). You are an inspriation, and encouragement to so many. "We know the one who holds tomorrow, and grateful to be in His hands." God bless you sweetheart. We all love you very much, and continue to trust God to heal you like "new."
Please let me know if I can help in any way. Carolyn K.

  10. I know I was extremely disappointed when, literally the day before, Dr. H. said I shouldn't go to the ladies retreat. I still haven't heard the lessons that were taught there... but I did know the theme. "His Strength Is Perfect" just about sums up everything I have needed these past 7 months. You know something, no one's even shared notes with me about those lessons... but then again, maybe I'm SEEING those notes lived out right now. After all, God has ways planned for us to put into practice what we have have been taught. That's way better that keeping them on paper stuffed in a notebook any day.

I don't think it was any coincidence about the color... just another way of showing you about how perfect His strength is.... He knew you would probably need to see that brochure right about now. Little reminders along the way to let you all, as well as us, know that He is still there holding you up.... and Anna, even through your pain.

Still praying daily for you all! Love you all so much!
    Hugs, Grace
